Being recognised as a School of Sanctuary means that a school has shown a clear commitment to making sure that every child and family feels welcomed, safe, and supported to thrive.
Safeguarding is their highest priority.
The Schools of Sanctuary programme is not political — it simply helps schools to understand why people seek safety and to lead with kindness and humanity.
We are proud to have schools where every child feels safe, where individual needs are understood, and where pupils are equipped to be kind and thoughtful members of the community.

Wolverhampton’s Schools of Sanctuary are just a few of the many schools all over the country who are committing themselves to being a safe and welcoming place for all, especially those seeking sanctuary. This could be people whose lives were in danger in their own country, who have troubles at home or are just looking for a space of safety.  Read more HERE .

We are grateful to Wolverhampton City Council and the Citizenship, Language and Learning Team for their support.  They will be pleased to give advice about how to become a School of Sanctuary.
